Old man surely must think that the Pravda is the most read newspaper in Russia, and also the official diary of the party in power (everybody knows Putin is a Communist who wants to re-create the Soviet Union).
McCain is an extreme case bordering senile dementia, but it is amazing how Cold War mentality survives in the US 20+ years on.

The last time I looked at Pravda it was running flying saucer stories.

There are two Pravdas, one is the online pravda.ru, and the other the newspaper of the Russian Communist Party. But I guess McCain doesn't know this, either.

I am out of touch. Not only are there two Pravdas but they hate each other's guts. (I am thinking of a time when someone bought the name -- was it an Indian? Ah well, the brain cells fail.)

Well hah hah, which one is going to double its circulation thanks to McCain? (If, of course, he ever gets around to writing something).

So McCain has spoken. He spoke truth to Pravda:

If McCain’s mission was to prove that the United States is run by solipsistic buffoons who don’t even try to understand anything about the rest of the world before they go blundering out shouting hypocritical nonsense about freedom, well, mission accomplished. Way to make Putin look like a wise and prudent statesman, Senator.

The perfect summary of this idiotic event.

Here's a pretty interesting piece by Global Voices' Daniel Alan Kennedy on Russian reaction to the McCain Op-Ed. A teaser: "You couldn't come up with better PR tactic that benefits Putin. If I were in the Kremlin's place, I'd pay money for something this."

I don't think he won many converts to the Arizona Republican party. Stick to buying houses you won't remember you own, John.
